Kierson Wilfley October 29, 2014 BBUS 471 Apple Ideas Case 1. After reading Design Thinking and Innovation at Apple, it is quit obvious why Apple has been so successful. One reason is that they had great products and services to offer such as design thinking and clear development strategy. Their Design Thinking is what connected Appleââ¬â¢s designers and customers because of the emotion that was transferred. This was seen with the original Macintosh. Bill Atkinson said ââ¬Å" . . . There was an emotional connection . . . that I think came from the hear and soul of the design time.â⬠(Page 2) Apple was also successful because they went beyond the focus of fashion, which is what a lot of their competitors thought was the most important. Their iPods, iPhones and Mac had sleek appearances but where also made of great material. They wanted these sleek appearances to lead into a zeitgeist, which is a ââ¬Å"sense of what is popular, fashionable, trendy at the moment.â⬠(Page 4) They took this concept and went beyond it, they wanted t o influence and make a stand. Not only did their products look good but they ran even better. Apple had a Platform Strategy. There was the OSX operating system that they used in all of their computers as well as in their iPhone. This strategy allowed for many advantages. They had a strong commitment to understand their customers and how they used computer products allowing them to make what their consumers needed and wanted.
